Today is the first day of our "Journaling with a Twist"! I am so excited!!!

If you are new to art journaling.. don't worry.. it is so fun and so easy... and anything goes!!!

Here is a fantastic article to get you thinking about this ....

Art Journaling 101

We are going to be keeping it simple for the first couple weeks.... the major goal of this is to have fun, explore different techniques and mediums, and remember.... nothing is wrong! Here is how it will work... I will give you a prompt... this is a starting point for your art journal page. I will give you the stuff to work with... this will stretch your imagination... and I will give you a technique to try.

Ready??? Good.... Here you go....

THE PROMPT: One Word! You can use your word of the year, you can use a word that inspires you somehow.. anything.

THE STUFF: Paint (acrylics or watercolor...) Use paint on your journal page somewhere, somehow.

THE TECHNIQUE: Doodle! As our theme is doodling this month.. doodle somewhere on your page.

That is it! Easy Peasy!!

Here is my page from my art journal...

I really hope you give this a try...... {{HUGS}}

I bought a mixed-media art journal yesterday thanks to my friend Johanne who is lurking right now so she can play with this in September... Wink

I'm ready to go...

This looks really hard for me to do... but I looked around the site you recommended and found this http://emilytellyourstory.blogspot.ca/ I think I could do a style similar to this!

Here is mine:

JOURNALING with a Twist! - September 6 IMG_2282

I used neocolour II water crayons. You colour with them and then go over with water and they create watercolour paint. Very fun to use. I bought them for an online course that I took. I find it a little easier than just painting but the effect is the same.

This was my 6th attempt. I have to stop trying to be so "perfect" with these things and loosen up. That was my biggest trial during the art journal course too.

Can't wait to see yours!

They are amazing and you can get very faded colour to very saturated colour. I just find them easier. They also cover much larger areas easier than watercolour pencils. The water pen brushes are fun too.

I got mine at Curry's.

It is just a bunch of different colors of acrylic paint smooshed around the page! Art Journalling can be anything at all.... the sky is the limit. I have even seen some that look like scrappy pages! Anything goes!!!
