What is spring cleaning like at your house????

I remember as a child, spring cleaning was a big deal --- starting upstairs one room at a time EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING was moved and cleaned. I do not do nearly a thorough cleaning as my mother or grandmother did but once the days get longer and the sun is shining before the outdoor gradens call I do like to go thorough the house.

I like the following re-.decluttering ... Break it down in small pieces.

Setting aside a whole afternoon or day to clean isn’t realistic for many jugglers. To find time to de-clutter, some experts recommend snatching 5- to 15-minute blocks of spare time to tackle messy spots one-by-one. Others advise seizing on 15- or 20-minute periods and setting a target–such as collecting 27 items they don’t need any more – then strolling through the house with trash bags, collecting stuff to donate or discard. Some families with older children build a 10-minute cleanup time into their after-dinner routine, setting a timer and requiring everyone in the house to take part.

I always feel the same once the sun starts shining for extended periods. I love the feeling of knowing I have moved things around and cleaned/organized

I don't really spring clean, if I feel like cleaning something out I do it. Christmas time is more my time to get rid of stuff. When i got new floors a few weeks ago I did wash the walls down in the living room and in the back hall. I do go through the kids clothes but that will wait another month or so before I do that.

I love the thought of getting through my house once a year. If I do that, I feel very accomplished! Energy levels don't always correspond with the seasons though. So like Tammy, if I feel like cleaning I clean!

Some of what you wrote above sounds very fly-ladyish, Linda! I like the thought of breaking my house into areas and cleaning that way.

I feel accomplished when I get cleaning done. But don't neccessarliy to "spring" cleaning. I go through my clothes when the seasons change but other cleaning gets done whenever I have time..lol

I don't really spring clean either. When the mood hits me that is when it gets done. I prefer to spend my time outdoors once the weather gets nice.

Not a spring cleaner either. I just use Flylady's principles all year round, and never seem to have a spring clean to do! LOL

LOVE ME MY FLYLADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She rocks IMHO...

I used to be a faithful fly-follower but was able to incorporate enough of my own routines into her stuff that I have a plan that works for us - for the most part. It sure helps that all the kids have left home!

OHMYLAND: I am so sorry I gave that impression. ROFL.... never! Everything I do is inspired by Flylady but totally "A la-Ali!" LOL I could never do things exactly her way, wouldn't work for the extreme challenges we have here. Not a chance!

I'm not a spring cleaner either. Too big of a job for my schedule! I like the jar idea of 15 minute cleaning jobs everyday. This will be my method of cleaning.

I think I'm going to have to wash the walls...soon... they have been blasting behind us since last fall and still going... I just noticed how much has accumulated along the hall walls... I guess I will have to tell people to quit touching them as they walk along ... at least till after all the blasting!!
