| Leaves
by Elsie N. Brady
How silently they tumble down And come to rest upon the ground To lay a carpet, rich and rare, Beneath the trees without a care, Content to sleep, their work well done, Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly Until they nearly reach the sky. Twisting, turning through the air Till all the trees stand stark and bare. Exhausted, drop to earth below To wait, like children, for the snow.

| Fantastic little poem that would be easy to incorporate on a layout of into a double mat picture frame with a fall photo on one side and the poem on the other. Thanks for sharing. | |

| Gail, did you print the poem on acetate (not sure of the spelling) sheet? If so, what brand do you use? | |

| Love that, Gail.
Linda, I get transparencies at Staples or other office supply places. I love using transparencies on my layouts..

| Vellum is a cheaper way to go if you like the see through look. I print out a bunch of poems on a sheet then save them to use on lo's. | |

| I sometimes use vellum but really like the transparency look for some. Yes, they are quite expensive so I use every single cm of the sheet an d hoard them for layouts that really need them.
If there's a cheaper source, I want to know!

| I will sometimes use the plastic inserts that come in packaging. Sometimes it's a little thinner or thicker than regular acetate but I figure if it gets the job done, it's good | |

| Thanks ladies.
Linda, for this, I printed the poem on plain cardstock. I inked with distress inks and had to spray it to lighten the color so I could still read the print. I stamped the leaves overtop.
On the acetate side. I have used transparencies too but like someone else, found they were getting very expensive. I bought a pad of Dura-Lar by Grafix which bills it as an "acetate alternative" at M's. It was in the art section. The pad had 25 sheets. It was still quite costly but with the coupon, less than the transparencies. I don't recall exactly how much I paid but I think the price before coupon was over $20. I haven't tried printing on it yet but have used it for stamping.

Did you change your paper type in preferences to transparency?

| Can't you also print on the rough side of the transparency? I know I've had transparencies in my classroom that had a smooth side and a rough side. | |

| It has to have a rough side or it doesn't print on my printer. I am talking about using packaging as a print surface. They don't have a rough side!
No, Jessica, I never thought about that. I'll check next time I want to print on a transparency! I so easily forget the basic things!!
