| This explains my girth... two male babies before I had the female! LOL
Harvard research from 2003 revealed that mothers pregnant with male babies tend to eat more than those carrying females.
Having had my two "babies" the past while, I can easily believe this fact:
In Paris, there are more dogs than there are children, and they seem to be treated with equal amounts of pampering. Collectively, Parisians spend nearly $500,000 every day on health and grooming for their pets.

| Good heavens! I have THREE boys and a girl! ROFL ROFL.... And Argo has cost us nothing beyond his sensitive skin and stomach (by Purina) food and every 6 month vet appointments. He keeps Noah safe though and attenuates anxiety, helps Noah's focus- he is an Autism Assistance Dog Guide.... so, we already know we'd spare no expense to help him if he needed us to. More great trivia! FUN! | |

| Well I found out this morning that my little guy's breeder is going to refund us his purchase price which will pay for his second surgery. He has neurological issues (near and dear to my OWN heart there!) and a bum knee.. it's his knee that needs fixing, nothing they can do for his brain.
I'm looking to get a balance dog in the new year. It could end up costing a fair pile of cash but then the rewards are definitely worth it (I don't fall down in public!). I have my eye on a litter due in January...

Kelly- So glad to hear this news. ALSO:Please check with Dog Guides Canada (Lions Fndtn) as they have a program for Special Skills Dogs. Obtaining their dogs is 100% covered by the Lions and their sponsors (companies, individual donations, Walk for Dog Guides, ETC) . You CAN fundraise but it is NOT required. LINK Lions Foundation of Canada- Dog Guides Special Skills Dogs ProgramThey do not describe EVERYTHING one of these dogs can do. Now, I am not sure about enhanced balance provision help, but it may be worth checking their info in more depth. In a recent MS publication MS Dialogue (funded and pubbed by TEVA- UGH!)... (u may have seen it) the gal near the back cover talked about her "New Favourite Thing"- It was her Dog Guide: She had MS and he had helped her after she fell- to get up. Never know, that avenue may be of help. The Lions are an amazing organization and have enhaced our lives immensely- with Noah, when we go speak to groups, and every time we go out in the community.

| Thanks Ali. They even mentioned assisted (balance) dogs.. hmm... will talk to dh about it. We have a rumbling of "posting" in our next year so until that is settled, I really couldn't pursue something like this in good faith... but... | |

You're welcome Kelly. Geeeeezzzzz they are always rumbling re: postings. Would do it now if you think applying for such a dog could help you! That program is in high demand (as is the AADG one) . Have a read-thru and see whether it'll be worth applying soon. There is usually a wait, so whether you are posted or not doesn't really matter. Apply from where you are now, see where it goes. If you have moved, they would understand that and help you anyway, if you'd been approved. GO FOR IT if you think it may help. The program's head trainer (in our case) goes to the home and assesses applicants to see if the program is a good fit, and then they send their recommendation to the Board. The Board sits and decides based on the info provided by the trainer, whether they can help that person, and you'd be approved that way (or not.) I am sure that many ppl move before their application gets to top of pile... nature of the beast with time... LOL You go girl. Sounds like a worthwhile thing to check into.

It def'ly takes time, as they match the person with a dog perfect for his/her needs and personality. Argo was originally kind of earmarked (but he was a year so not yet started in it "bigtime") for the Canine Vision ("seeing eye" as ppl call it) programme thru LFC, but when Chris met him after meeting Noah, he knew he was THE dog for Noah. And so, Argo worked and trained to become an AADG. He is a PERFECT fit for Noah. People remark on it all the time. There is a lot going on behind the scenes even before the dogs are streamed into their programmes and looked at in terms of matches. That sometimes happens a great deal earlier than people realize.... So it's worth a good think! LOL Good Luck with your decision.

| Glad to hear you'll get the refund Kelly. I think you've said before, but I don't recall - what are the symptoms of his neurological issues. | |
