PostSubject: Week 3 - Tech Class #2   Week 3 - Tech Class #2 Icon_minitimeJuly 10th 2012, 8:22 pm

Today's technique is a bit tricky, but the effect is well worth it!!!

You are going to transfer an image using gel medium.

If you haven't bought any, I read that if you mix 2/3 white glue with 1/3 water, this would work too... I haven't tried it.. but do if that is what you have.

Here is what you need...

Week 3 - Tech Class #2 DSC_0004-19

- an image printed on your printer (I used one from the internet being inspired by Lisa'a pointy finger!)

- gel medium

-paint brush

- bone folder or spoon

- cardstock or a tag to transfer your image on to.

This is what you do...

1. Apply a generous coat of gel medium to your cardstock or tag...
Week 3 - Tech Class #2 DSC_0005-9

2. Place your image down onto the gel medium. Rub over the image for a bit using a bone folder or the bowl of a spoon works great too. I rubbed over mine for about a minute.

Week 3 - Tech Class #2 DSC_0007-11

3. Turn up the corner edge of your paper that the image is on and see if it has started to transfer....
If you want, you can rub it a bit more.... remove the image paper from your cardstock or tag.

Week 3 - Tech Class #2 DSC_0008-7

4. You may get bits of the transfer paper stuck onto your tag, if so, wet your fingers a bit, and rub off the excess paper. Or leave it for a cool effect too!

Week 3 - Tech Class #2 DSC_0009-8

There you go, you transferred an image! How cool!!!

Week 3 - Tech Class #2 DSC_0018-6

If you try this technique before July 25th , you will earn 5 points.

If you use this technique and make a card or tag or use it on a layout before July 25th you will aren 10 points.

If you use this technique and make a card, tag, or any other project before July 18th you will earn 15 Brownie poiints!!!

I have a laser printer so I don't think it will work with this technique... Sad

Week 3 - Tech Class #2 Picture065Medium

Helen! I LOVED this!! I used mod podge because that's what I had. I absolutely adore the effect. Again, a convert... I think sometimes I'm in too much of a hurry to 'get 'er done" that I don't slow down to do something "special".

I did put it on a layout. You'll see it on my blog tomorrow. Smile

Thanks so much for these tech classes!

Nope. I used it straight out of the bottle and timed my "scrubbing" to exactly one minute as Helen suggested.

It isn't perfect by any means but a little distressing after the fact took care of that! Smile

I tried with Mod Podge but it didn't work. But I have a laser printer too. Definitely doesn't work with that. I have to pick up some ink for my other printer and re-try.

Kelly, that is gorgeous.

Teacher, I think I need some help. I've tried a few and one kind of worked. I'm having trouble with either the lots of paper sticking to the cardstock or the layer of cardstock with the image peeling off. Is that too much/not enough gel medium or rubbing too hard or too long?
