Art Journal Challenge #8 - Triad

Sometimes I have a hard time fiquring out which colours work best together... I mix colours and they turn to mud!
I saw a video about using triad colours and I found it works pretty good for me.

Pure Triad Colors combine every fourth color on the Basic Color Wheel.

This gives you 4 different palette choices of 3 colors each.

•3 Primary Colors - Yellow + Red + Blue
•3 Secondary Colors - Orange + Violet + Green
•3 Tertiary Colors - Yellow/Orange + Red/Violet + Blue/Green
•3 Tertiary Colors - Yellow/Green + Red/Orange + Blue/Violet



If you use 2 colours for your main colour, throw a splash of the third colour in and it seems to work great!!

For my example, I used red and blue and added a splash of yellow here and there. You can use white and black to tone these colours down and change them up!



Your challenge is to use 3 triad colors on your art journaling or a layout... and add a quote that you like to this!

Pretty, Three colours and a quote is easy! BUT it probaly won't be as easy as an Art Journal. LOL

That's my downfall as well. My dd is an artist and encourages me to experiment more with color combining. I tend to want to stay "balanced" though!

I love the circles - they look like bubbles. How did you do them?

I used oil pastels for the dark ones and chalk pastels for the light ones then I went around them with a marker that matched the side it was on. I also used a stencil to get the shape then took it off to blend the pastels together
