| Before “Twas The Night Before Christmas, the American idea of Santa Claus was different from the one today. St. Nicholas was not viewed as a bundle of joy, but as a much serious fellow; who was as likely to dole out punishment to kids for their transgressions, as he was to hand out presents. Post the number and answer the question. Let’s answer them in numerical order. Everyone’s name that answers a question will go into a draw, when all the questions are answered.Twenty Questions:1. | 6. When did He acknowledge that he was the author?
The story also goes by a second title "A Visit From St. Nicholas." It was published in 1823 in a New York newspaper, The Sentinel, by Moore who remained anonymous when it first came out. As a Baptist Minister he was concerned that the poem was too light-hearted and secular. Once the poem's popularity was assured, he came forth as the poet when the poem was published in a book of his poetry in 1844 | |
