| Lovely. Carla, a couple of questions. Are Canada geese regular residents there? Do you usually get large flocks and do they nest there? I've never paid attention to how widespread they are. Are your photos along to ocean or on a body of fresh water? | |

| Carla you got some great shots here! Can I just say I love the background second pic. Are you going to get a zoom lens in the near future? I hear Tamron zoom lenses are fab! | |

| Great pics Carla!! Gail ~ the Canada Geese fly south for the winter, so when we see them, we are happy!!! When we see them in their 'v formation' in the fall, we get sad since it means winter is inevitable I'm not sure about where Carla's pics are taken though!! I know she lives on the east coast but I'm not sure if she is LITERALLY on the coast or not!!! Carla?? | |

| Mia, they don't nest in Ontario then? You just see them in migration? We get extremely huge flocks here during migration. They do nest here in Saskatchewan too though - I think I've seen them everywhere I've been in Saskatchewan. We have a large population here in the city every summer. In Regina, there are so many around Wascana Lake that they have been transporting them out the last couple of years. | |

| i agree with you Gail - tons here... I love it when they all start flying though - not so much when the winter geese cover the fields...
What about the pelicans did you see them all last year in saskatoon - so cool and they flew this way too... cool to see.
i love walking wascana and seeing all the babies - we do it every year - so cute.... dont' ship them out here - we have tons!!

| Those photos are great!!
They head down to where my Step Mom lives. About an hour away from here is a wildlife preserve called Gray Lodge. We go there to see the birds right around New Year's (there are millions of them-it's amazing)! I will post some photos later this weekend.

We live in the central part of Newfoundland. This is only the 3rd spring I've actually seen Canada Geese on the ground. We've seen them fly overhead at times, but lately it seems they've been checking things out and hanging around for a bit. I don't think they'll be here longer than 3-4 days. Here's a couple of GoogleEarth pics to show you :-)

Are you going to get a zoom lens in the near future? I hear Tamron zoom lenses are fab! I don't have a camera where I can switch up the lenses, but my brother does. I'm hoping I can use his camera today; the weather is not that nice though, so I'll see......

I haven't heard that they are back yet this year have you? It should be any time now. Although if they are anywhere near Saskatchewan yesterday and today, they may change their minds and head back south! I always have to check out the pelicans a number of times through the summer. It still seems a novelity to have them here but I heard recently that it was back in the '70s that they started coming to weir here in city. Hard to believe it's been that long.

| Carla, that looks like an awesome place to live. It seems a lot of birds are changing their patterns and extending their territory. | |

Come on over to Kelowna for a visit! They live here all year long. Right now they are doing an egg addling program and also have a guy with a dog and a falcon that go into the parks everyday and scare them off. They are beautiful birds but too many of them can cause a lot of damage. Over the last few years it seems that more and more of them are chosing to stay here instead of migrating.
