BIG 2 L ice cream tubs...

Ice cream in the 2 L (= about 2 quarts) tubs has been on sale all summer and we have a LOT of tubs to show for it ( as does my "tubby" waistline. LOL!)

Any ideas what we can do with those 2L/2Q Tubs?? They re cylindrical tubs (I mean round, not square...) so to me, NOT that useful for space savvy storage. I like square or rectangular containers as storage in my home.

If you altered them,. what/how would you do it?

USEFUL IDEAS?

Here are some of mine-

1. Save them to freeze homemade soups/stews/cookies in.

2. I use 2 in kitchen as my compost bins- they get emptied outside into main composter, washed and reused.

2. Cookie Mixes as gifts? or are these tubs too large? Double the recipe??

3. Homemade hot cocoa mixes?

4. Put one or two in kids' sandbox.

5. Use one in the bathtub to rinse little kids' hair.

6. Kids' markers- storage (the kiddos don't care that the tubs are not space savvy. That's just ME! LOL)

IDEAS for altering and uses other than altering for these? I will post this on 2 other Boards and share the results.

- How altering one and making a huge penny collecting tub?
- Punch holes in the bottom and put one in the bathroom for storing the bathtub toys.
- use in the garden to collect veggies, flowers...etc.
- Punch holes in the sides and make a ribbon storage container... then stack them on top of each other...

I use one on Dh's dresser as a change collection tub- I decorated it!

ANYONE ELSE have any ideas?

Hmmmmm, I don't usually keep stuff like that around, but soup storage would be one idea I would use them for.

I also use them to keep the big batch muffin mix (dry mix) in the fridge. Fits perfectly.

I need to email the school and see if they can make use of them in SOME way.

any kitchen storage.....do you keep pancake mix on hand? i always "make" a homemade pancake mix to keep on hand and just add the milk once i want to make it.....so you could mix some up......either to keep or to give as gifts...

i dunno! i'm creativity challenged!! LOL!

The sec'y at the school is checking with the H and S committee and all the teachers too for me.
