June 10th - ICED TEA DAY

There is some controversy about how iced tea was "invented". Some say it was first made at the 1904 St. Louis Worlds Fair. Apparently a tea plantation owner, Richard Blechynden, was planning on giving away samples of his tea, but the weather was so hot, not many people wanted tea. It is said that he dumped ice cubes in the tea and it was a big hit!

Fourteen years previous, though, there are records of a Missouri State Reunion of Ex-Confederate Veterans in Nevada, Missouri. They served 15000 veterans a HUGE amount of meat/bread, including 880 gallons of iced tea

So, whatever is to be believed, who likes Iced Tea? Do you find it a refreshing drink? How do you make yours? My kids usually buy a container of Nestle Ice Tea mix. LOL!

When I make home-made Iced Tea, I usually add lemons and limes, so for this scrappy challenge, use some yellow and lime green on a layout or card.

I buy the Nestle ice tea powder too... but it's got to be tropical! I have to hide it too or my DS2 would have it all gone in less than a week!

Ummm...hello! TEA LOVER! Iced tea is the best! I just finished off some Vanilla Pop iced tea and made a batch of Berry Mania for tomorrow. So delish!

It took about 10 minutes.. acrylic paint (green and yellow) for the base.. Dylusion stamps for everything including the crows.. and the leaves are painted in with TH distress markers...
a bit of doodlin.. and voila.. done!

That's awesome Helen! I love the saying and how one of the crows has it's mouth open. It's also great because crows can't skip! LOL!!

Do you use glossy acrylic paints? How do yours always look so shiny? Mine look matte when I'm done and they are gritty feeling. I don't like it!

I use a credit card to spread the acrylic paint.. And it always goes on so smooth.. Try that...I find a paintbrush makes the paper gritty.. So I know what you mean.

I guess I just don't like that flat, rough, feel. I think I have texture issues. LOL! I'll give the credit card a try. DH probably won't mind either because then I won't be able to swipe it if it's covered in paint! Ha ha!

Hahaha!! Use an expired one!! LOL!! Should have told you that.. or use a real one..it would make dh happy then!!

My dh would literally drop dead if I used a real credit card! LOL
