Tell us about your family: I have been married to my best friend since 1983, we have three children who are all grown and gone from home.
Our two sons are married and my favourite topics to scrapbook have to be my two
adorable grandchildren. We are expecting another grandson in early September and, true to form, I’ve already started his scrapbook!
Our daughter is in Korea this year teaching English and enjoying all that the culture has to offer. I am enjoying keeping up with her via weekly Skype calls and pictures on Facebook!
Other than my spoiled puppy, I am an empty nester.
My hubby is in the Canadian military. We have lived all over the globe and continent. All three of our children were homeschooled all the way from K-12. It was through homeschooling in Newfoundland that I first met Carla.
Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? I’ve been scrapbooking all my life in one form or another but was only introduced to “industry scrapbooking” when we moved here in 2005. I love to work with my hands and to create works of art in food, fabric and paper. I am addicted to photography and believe that a good photograph can tell a great story and is the beginning of a great page. I am addicted to preserving memories and building a heritage that will last for generations to come.
Does anyone in your family also scrap? No. Both my dils love stamping and card making. Right now neither has time since they are kind of wrapped in the whole being a mommy-of-babies-and-toddlers thing!
What size do you normally scrap? I like 12x12 best.
How many hours a week do you scrap? It depends on the week and what else is going on and how close to deadline things are. I also like to quilt and find that I can’t do both at the same time. Ergo, if I have a quilt or sewing project on the go, I’m not scrapbooking and vice versa.
What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? Photos!
Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Eclectic, messy, evolving
Tell us about your favourite layout you have ever completed? Oof… this is hard! I would say that the layouts I love best have lots of journaling and lots of photos!
What do you love the most about scrapping? Watching my kids and grandkids look through my projects and knowing that I’m helping to preserve and pass down memories from my generation to the next.
What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? Getting started.. (I’m a procrastinator by nature… and highly distractible… ).. Being too tired to finish.
What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? Anything I don’t know the “story” behind…
Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? Nothing formal.
Have you ever been published? Never submitted. No real interest in it. I have a blog, that’s bad enough!
What type of camera do you use? Canon T3i
What would be your perfect day? Waking up without pain and loads of energy. Having coffee on the deck. Spending time with my family laughing, playing games and eating together!!
I can't imagine my life without ... My family.
Favourite Snack: Probably a protein bar.
Favourite Drink: I know I should say water, but in reality it’s a good cup of coffee or a nice cold diet Pepsi depending on the weather and the time of day!
Favourite Paper: I can’t pick. I like Websters and Prima for a lot of my pages. I like Graphic 45 as well. Then again, there is October Afternoon or Echo Park for all my little kid pages… I’m rediscovering Basic Grey and MME lately… (sigh) too much paper, too little time!
Favourite Technique: Probably distressing or embossing… adding dimension in any form whether it be through height or texture or…
Favourite Embellishment: anything metal or lace
Favourite Scrap Tool: my pokey tool or my sewing machine!
Favourite Adhesive: oi… didn’t we just establish not that long ago that I’m a bit of an adhesive addict?? I use my double sided Scotch tape dispenser for almost everything, I use foam dots (I am all about dimension on my layouts) at least once per page, I use Fabritac for anything that needs to go down and never come off, I use tombow..
