Route 4a - USA - Fowler MI

Good Morning all my travellers!!! Are you ready for the next leg of this amazing race?

We are heading back to North America to visit a couple of places that are rather interesting!!

The first place we are going to land after travelling from the Antarctic is Fowler, Michigan!!!



That is right.. Colleen needs our help burning the weeds behind her garage, so I thought we should learn a little about where she is!!

Fowler is a village in Clinton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,136 at the 2000 census.

Originally called "Dallas", Fowler was created when John Parks settled the area and became its first postmaster in 1849. The town subsequently moved to a tract of land owned by J. N. Fowler and in 1869 the name was changed to "Fowler". In 1885, the town incorporated as a village in Clinton County, reportedly during a high growth lumber boom.

In 2004, Fowler remains a small rural community, serving the needs of the local farming community and as a satellite community to Lansing.

This is their Clock and Post Office...



This challenge is to use the above photo as inspiration for a layout!!

Here is mine..... I used the bricks surroounding the base of the Clock and the Clock itself for inspiration, as well as the fact that Colleen is my friend!!

Helen what a surprise and how cool. Good thing you didn't use Maple Rapids as my home town, no idea what you would have picked there.

Just for a little more history, I live 10 miles north of Fowler out in the country. My mailbox resides in Clinton County while our house and DH and I reside in Gratiot county.

Okay, I love the way the clock takes center stage to the right and then you have the "layers" of buildings to the left. So my photo takes the place of the clock and then I have my layers of papers and flowers the left of it.

I chose to use a circle in the background to represent the clock and took the colors from the picture (especially the grey) to make this page...

Thanks ladies! I fought with the letters for awhile! Sizzixed grungeboard and used liquid chalk, didn't like the results so tried distress ink, couldn't get it covered well, so tried a marker, that streaked so in the end I stickled them!

They turned out great1
