I love to have a clean workspace. Not necessarily clean as in not cluttered, but clean as in not "dirty".

For dry messes, I have a large newsprint paper pad that I keep on my desk and this is what I scrap on (well I have a cutting mat that I scrap on, but this is what the cutting mat goes on). With this, I'm able to test stamps, test pen colors, write out journaling or titles (to find the center letter) etc. I am always doodling on this pad when I'm "thinking".

I paid under $5 for this pad several years ago at my local art store. You can use an old desk blotter size calendar for the same purpose. You can see my paper pad and my cutting mat on my table in this post.

I am a messy glue person. When I have to use glue (as for Carla's flower tutorial posted on April 29), I like to save a few lids from plastic things (cottage cheese, hummus and that sort of thing). I will use these to glue on and if the glue splops (which it frequently does with me!), it is easily peeled off the plastic lid once dry. This keeps glue and other "wet" mediums off my table, away from my layouts (until they are ready and dry) and from damaging anything else or being damaged themselves.

Just a couple of little things. Smile

Great ideas, Kelly!!!

I have a newsprint pad, too! I got mine at the $store in the kids art supplies. It is great for stamping on, too!

I agree, Linda. Mine is newsprint, but if I just had a pad, I'd lose it!! Laughing That's why I have a big one, right where I can find it!!

Good idea! I should look for one like that. I have an old quilting cutting p[ag, but that one has some ridges cut in it, so it's not smooth.

Love the idea for the hot glue messes!
