• In 2001, hijackers crash two planes into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. A third aicraft was crashed into the Pentagon and a fourth plane crashed in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

► Eight-year-old Amanda sat quietly in church at her mother's side. It was the first wedding Amanda had ever attended.
She leaned toward her mother and whispered, "Why is the bride dressed in white?"
Wishing to keep it simple, her mother explained, "White is the color of joy, and today is most joyful day of her life,"

I remember Sept 11th vividly! I had left Luke home with all three kids for an hour while I went to the church for a Bible study. Can't belive I did that -- he was only 9 yrs old and Benjamin almost 4. Luke called and told me about the first plane. He loved watching the news and I just thought he got something mixed up and wrong with the actual accounting of an accident. But, no..... it was real I hurried home, and Devin came home from work also. Then we were glued to the TV for days, it seems.

Sept 11 makes me so sad. What an absolute horror. Breaks my heart.
I remember the effects it had here in Greenwood (DH is RCAF & we are live near the Air Force Base where Dh works for those who may not know...) it was so awful for everyone. . And it has been SUCH a long haul for so many, ALL over, def'ly not just here. I think many hearts will never heal. The losses were just too great.

I too remember exactly how I heard what was happening. I went to work without listening to any radio or anything. Just as I was turning the corner to the elevator my co-workers were going to watch on the big screen TV in the main meeting room. I went and watched for quite a while but had to work. Like Carla, I was glued to the TV for days after that when I wasn't at work.

I was driving on the 401 in Toronto with my dad, we were heading to Sudbury as my grandma was having surgery that afternoon.

Terrible day....

I just remember going through the day and working at the college but not really processing what happened until I got home and actually watched the news. Classes were cancelled the rest of that day too.

We had just moved back from Cairo the summer before 9/11 and it hit us pretty hard for a lot of reasons. We knew people who had family that died in the towers that day.. we also had just left an American school in Cairo, and knew some of the Bin Laden family..... very scary stuff. We were glued to the tv for days too.
