Earth Day is a day early each year on which events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth's natural environment.

The name and concept of Earth Day was allegedly pioneered by John McConnell in 1969 at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco. Earth Day was first observed on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere.

We recycle all our milk jugs and with DH being a HUGE milk drinker we help a lot Wink

I just wish I could get him to put them in the garbage sacks instead of leaving them on the counter.

I have some recycling I need to take out to the recycle bin. That will be my helping the Earth today Very Happy I'll also probably save some other things from the trash & put them in the recycle bin. DH tends to just throw everything in the trash - grrrr!

DH is raking the yard and cleaning up the weeds and stuff. He's also getting rid of all the junk that's been laying around our yard creating more places for weeds to grow and things not to get mowed. There will be lots and lots for the recyclers to take on Tuesday! Smile

I am scrapbooking today all with older paper from my stash. MY DD was in Creative Memories years ago and I inherited all her leftover stuff. It has been sitting for several years in my scraproom. Since I am working on this Seniors bowling album, I am using the paper for the album and it is working out great.

My dad's phrase when we were kids was "This house is lit up like a Christmas tree!" He said that almost every night when he came home from work. I don't know what he expected when we were all in our own rooms doind individual activities. LOL

In our house we recycle just about everything. In our city we have blue bags and all recyclable stuff gets put in there. What can't be such as paint, electrical appliances and bigger things we take to an eco station(old computers and other electronics too).We use recycle bags for our groceries as well.
We use ECO laundry detergents and today we recycled paper and our flyers that come in the mail daily and with our provincial election tomorrow we've had plenty of flyer material that got into the recycle bag!

I thought I would show this, sometimes I like to border a LO and I use the leftover cardstock from cutting with the Cricut. This is one that I was working on yesterday.
The back of the LO looks like this -

April 22nd - Earth Day 00114

This is what you see in the book.

April 22nd - Earth Day 00212

Other people may already be doing this but it is a way to utilize all your cardstock plus reduce scrap, just thought I would share.

If I really like the paper or scrapping a large pic, I will cut out under the photo. It gives me scraps for a co-ordinating page or card.

Me three.

I'll have to leave a bit wider edges when cutting with my Cameo so I can use those sheets.

Apparently in Clairmont, they don't do curbside recycling. Grr! Makes for lots of trash in our bin each week! Plus, all those cardboard boxes we used for moving are just ending up in the landfill. I need to check and see if there's anywhere we can bring them for recycling. We've been using lots of water jugs, too, and of course juice cartons, etc. Hate throwing them in the garbage.

Carla.. my Mom in Medicine Hat has a recycle post where they actually get paid for their bottles and such. And they have a central recycle staion for cardboard and such. I hope you find something up there.

Yes, here in AB we pay a deposit on bottles-wine,beer,whiskey,pop,cans too. Our milk cartons and juice boxes, then when they are returned to a bottle depot you get that deposit back. All cardboard and paper, cans and other glass(jars etc.) are recycled. They should have something like that in place up your way,Carla.
